Exhibition Dates: Thursday August 25th - October 1st, 2022

Rountree Gallery - 120 W Main St Platteville, WI

Navigating through a world of notifications and unlimited screen time, Tiffany Lange’s abstract paintings create parallels of being raised in the digital age and our consumption of technology. As we sift through the unending headlines, memes, and additional online static, Lange often begins to feel overstimulated and anxious - possibly even a bit wired at times.

Through different forms of mark making on the painting’s surfaces, Lange’s work echoes the pleasure that we receive from our screens, yet carries the weight of the constant pressure to engage online with the possible ‘fear of missing out’. Active compositions are constructed through disorderly shapes and bold disruptive brush strokes that mimic the act of mindlessly scrolling. Icons often seen from the glow of our mobile devices, tablets and computers are assembled on the surface through intuitive and digital practices.

As Lange continues to process living within an interconnected world, the cathartic act of painting has allowed herself to step back from the daily commotion and disconnect - even if only for a short period of time.
